为了取得美国的绿卡而假结婚，其实并不是中国同胞的专利，连法国人也玩这种游戏。法国影帝杰拉尔．德帕迪约饰演一名落魄的音乐家乔治，希望在纽约得到一个东山再起的机会，于是想办法要搞到一张绿卡。安迪．迈克道威尔饰演园艺家布朗蒂，为了入住一幢只出租给夫妇的理想公寓，乃答应跟不认识的乔治假结婚。不料移民局对他们进行调查，反而促使两人假戏真做。澳洲导演彼得．韦尔以第三者的冷眼来看这一段时代的悲喜剧，在老题材中还是拍出了不错的新鲜感觉，尤其乔治在布朗蒂的朋友聚会中突然亮了一手杰出的钢琴造诣，令银幕上下都产生了惊喜之感。

利用假结婚来骗取绿卡并不是中国人的专利，法国人也会做同样的事情，当然，浪漫的他们更会借此而假戏真做。就像《风月俏佳人》和《人鬼情未了》这样的经典爱情剧一样，《绿卡》也有着不可抵挡的魅力和让人心情愉悦的幽默。它明快的色调，充满谐趣的语言，轻松的节奏和轻巧的运镜都一如它的主题一样的欢乐而甜蜜，且不时出现惊喜。而德拉帕约和安迪·麦克道尔两位实力派明星的高超演技在影片里更是挥洒的游刃有余。有趣的是，这是德拉帕约第一次出演英语影片，他在片中操着一口带着浓重法国口音的蹩脚英语为影片的真实性和喜剧效果添色不少，而这正是他当时真正的英语水平。本片获得了当年金球奖的最佳摄影和最佳男主角奖。来自118cha.com
